TRAVEL TO AND WITHIN BOLOGNA
Bologna is easy to reach. There are various airlines that fly directly to Bologna as well as excellent train connections from the major cities in Italy. In case your preferred airline does not offer direct flights to Bologna we recommend booking a flight to Milan and then take the direct train to Bologna. The high- speed railway connection is fast and the tickets well-priced.
By plane: Guglielmo Marconi International Airport is located just a few minutes from the city centre, served by taxi and train. You can get a taxi from the airport on the ground floor, just outside the door of the landing area. The cost of a taxi from the airport to a central location in Bologna is about 20/30€. You can get “People mover” the brand-new high-speed train that takes only 7 minutes to arrive at Stazione Centrale train station. A train every 7 minutes. The price of a single ticket is 12,80€ (one way) or 23,3€ (return).
By train: Due to its central location and geography, Bologna has emerged as the main rail transport hub of northern Italy, making it very well connected with other major Italian cities. The train is a very common means of transport. Bologna is on the high-speed train network, reachable from Florence in under 40 minutes, Milan in around an hour, Venice in about 75 minutes and Rome in 2 hours 20 minutes.
By car: You can reach Bologna by highway: From Milan by A1 coming from North; From Florence by A1 coming from South; From Venice and Padua by A13; From Ancona, Rimini and Ravenna by A14
VISA REQUIREMENTS: In case you need an invitation letter for visa purposes, please contact the AIE Secretariat ([email protected]). We strongly advise to contact the Secretariat as early as possible.
