This award, open to all graduates in Dentistry, is intended to recognize the best clinical case. The Italian Academy of Endodontics dedicated this prize to Lucia Mareschi, one of the first active members when AIE was founded thirty years ago. On the occasion of the 2nd International Congress, the Italian Academy of Endodontics (AIE) awarded the “Francesco Riitano” Research Prize, dedicated to graduates or graduating students in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics from Italian and foreign universities, to:

2nd Place: Anna Ciarlini – Department of Dentistry, University Hospital of Modena “Influence of electroerosion manufacturing process on the cyclic fatigue resistance of endodontic instruments”
3rd Place (tie): Carlotta Giuliano – University of Turin “Evaluation of canal anatomy preservation and stress distribution after shaping with different methods: micro-CT and 3D finite element analysis” / Alessio Buonavoglia – University of Bologna “Analysis of the endo-perio microbiome in periodontally compromised teeth using Nanopore technology”
4th Place: Vittorio Fenoglio – University of Turin “Does canal taper affect tooth resistance? Correlation between root canal taper and residual resistance in premolars restored with fiber posts”
"PAOLO PELLEGATTA" Research Grant for Best Research Project 2025
The Italian Academy of Endodontics (AIE) offers the 2025 Paolo Pellegatta Research Grant to support a research project for a master’s thesis in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics at an Italian university, focusing on Endodontics and its relationships with other disciplines. The grant is intended for fifth- and sixth-year students to support a research project for a master’s thesis in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics. On the occasion of the 2nd International Congress, the grant was awarded to: Alessandro Rocca – University of Parma “Biological effect of 3 endodontic sealers on macrophage polarization”.
